CBS Weekly Roundup

CBS Mitchelstown at Loreto Clonmel MUN

Eight CBS TY students participated in the Loreto Clonmel Model UN last week, from Tuesday 10th to Friday 13th March. Tuesday marked the first day of the event, with the welcoming and keynote speeches. This was followed with lobbying, whereby delegations who have written potential resolutions seek co-signatories so that their resolution might be put forward for consideration for debate over the following days. Once resolutions were chosen on Tuesday night, students debated, put forward amendments, and got actively in engaging with contemporary issues from Wednesday to Friday. Special commendations must be given here to the CBS students who delivered opening speeches, Michal Bieganowski, Paudie French, and Charlie O’Meara for their respective delegations, and for those who offered points of information and suggested amendments.

The whole event was a fantastic opportunity for the CBS students to engage with global issues in a tangible manner. While the school have a history of attending the DCMUN, this is our first time attending an MUN in Loreto Secondary School Clonmel, and to that end the CBS would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the host school for their hospitality and exemplary organisation.
