CBS Student Council 5K Colour Run/Walk Success

The CBS Student Council ‘5K Colour Run/Walk’ was a huge success last Friday, and kicked off the school’s Active Schools Week 2025 with a bang!

The Student Council were instrumental in organising the event, having come up with the idea last January , but the day could not have gone off so well without the collective effort of the whole school. From members of staff, to our Parents Council, past pupils, our local Mitchelstown Fire Brigade and Gardaí, our school once again showcased our level of community, collectivity, and a shared sense of connection. This is especially noteworthy when both causes for which the money is being raised have local implications: Autism Assistance Dogs Ireland, and Caring_for_Claire.

To that end, to everyone who sponsored the students, the school extends a sincere thanks.

The school would also like to congratulate the fastest runners from each year group:

Bernie McDonnagh (1st Yr), James Walsh (2nd Yr), Seán O’Sullivan (3rd Yr), Jack Moher (TY), Adam Pauliukas (5th Yr), and Cian Hogan (6th Yr).

The CBS are delighted to have been able to have facilitated such an event, that was thoroughly enjoyed by all, helped no doubt by the beautiful weather!

Special note of commendation must be given to their Chemistry teacher Ms Kelleher, who has guided her students to many wins of this prestigious accolade over the years, including last year, which is a phenomenal achievement. Well done to CBS TY students Sean Keane, Adam McNamara and Conor Noonan on presenting their mini company project ‘CalvEasy ’ in the national final in Mullingar last week, having won the regional final a few months ago. While they didn’t walk away with a prize, they did walk with their heads held high for having reached such a level. Commendations must also be given to their teachers, Ms Browne, Mr Ryan, Ms Good, and Mr Brick, for their work and guidance throughout the year. Well done to all involved.
