On Friday morning, 22nd August, the near two month wait for Mitchelstown CBS Leaving Cert students between finishing their exams and receiving their results came to an end. On a day of excitement, students received their reward for five, and sometimes six, years of dedication to their studies and can be justifiably proud of their achievements. Principal Mary Hannon said that “we are very proud of this group of young men, both for the excellent results that they achieved today and for the massive contribution that they made to school life down through the years.”
The CBS Leaving Cert and Leaving Cert Applied students can be justifiably proud of their achievements in the 2025 State Exams, with this year’s group upholding the school’s tradition of strong academic achievement. AJ Coughlan and Brian Mullins both topped the points ranking with each receiving the maximum 625 points. These results were closely followed by Dillon Lynch with 613, and a number of other students not far behind that. This is a phenomenal set of results for a diligent and focused group of students who should all be extremely proud of their endeavours. .
Mitchelstown CBS also has a very strong Leaving Cert Applied programme in which students regularly achieve top results, and this year’s group was no exception, with all students achieving a Distinction – the top grade available.
Ms. Hannon noted that while this is a day to celebrate the boys’ successes, the school is a community whose partners play an important supporting role. She extended a huge thanks to the parents and families of the Leaving Cert students both as the single most important support for the boys and for their cooperation with the school. She also spoke of her appreciation for the teachers and other staff members of the school for their dedication to developing each student’s potential in a professional and caring manner. The thing of which we are most proud in this school is what confident and well-rounded men the class of 2025 have grown to be.
For any student who has not achieved their hoped for results, we ask them to contact us here in the school straight away, either in person or by phone for discussion. We remind the students that they have the opportunity to view their scripts in the coming days.
