Picture One:  Huge congratulations to the CBS Mitchelstown U 19 footballers, and their trainers Mr Duggan and Mr Bohane, who defeated PS Sliabh Liachra, to win the Munster Semi-Final in the TUS Corn Dhonncha Uí Nuanain league last Saturday. The match finished on a scoreline of  2-15 to 1-08, with the panel now looking forward to the Munster Final in two weeks time. Well done and good luck to all involved.

Pictures Two to Seven: : Davis College Model UN

From 23rd to 26th Jan, inclusively, the CBS Mitchelstown Pol & Soc 5th Year students (which included senior students from the cooperating Presentation Convent) and CBS TY political philosophy students attended the Davis College Model UN in Cork City Hall. The event began on Tuesday afternoon, which offered the opportunity for delegations to lobby for co-signatories for their resolutions. Wednesday then commenced with distinguished keynote speakers, most notably Dr Dáithí Ó Murchú, which marked the official opening of the event, touching on topics from global citizenship to AI and crypto currency, to the harsh reality of the profiteering that envelops modern warfare.

Following this, opening speeches from chosen delegations were given, with the delegates of Afghanistan and Norway from the CBS, giving speeches in both the General Assembly and the Special Conference.

Topics for discussion over the remaining two and a half days ranged from global governmental systems, to mandatory sex education and ethical AI development. In each instance, CBS students were vocal in giving points of information and suggesting amendments to the various resolutions. With over 600 students in attendance this was no easy feat, and was a credit to the students involved.

All in all, the event was highly engaging and successful and the students are, no doubt, looking forward to attending again in 2025.

Picture Eight: congratulations to the CBS first and second year basketball players and their coach Mr O’Neill on their respective wins last Friday against Nagle Mahon CC. The first  years won 14-4 and the second years won 15-7. Well done to all involved.
