CBS Secondary Mitchelstown raise €1,163 for Jigsaw Ireland

The CBS Student Council, in collaboration with the TY mini companies, had a very successful Christmas market that took place on the last day before the Christmas holidays. This market was not just an opportunity for the TY mini companies to showcase and draw business for their entrepreneurial endeavours, but was also an example of the altruism that the school feels is so central to the festive period. Here, through bake sales, hot beverage stalls and hamper raffles, the Student Council set about raising funds for an incredibly worthy cause: Jigsaw Ireland. This  organisation offers free counselling to young people in Ireland and due to the increasing pressures on young people, exacerbated by the pandemic, the Student Council felt it was pertinent that they raise money for them at this time. To that end the Council are delighted to say that they have raised a grand total of €1,163. This is a substantial amount and a credit to the whole school community. When you align this with the SVP food drive that also took place before the holidays it’s clear that for the students of the CBS the meaning of Christmas lies in charity, care and compassion. Well done to all involved.
