Science Week 2025 in CBS Mitchelstown

The CBS Mitchelstown was a hub of scientific inquiry this week with a plethora of events organised to mark Science Week 2025.

In Ms Carey’s class, after completing their Food Experiments, the students took part in a lively Science Riddle Quiz to test their curiosity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

At other times during the week the First and Second Years had their respective quizzes. There were also other events including ‘Question of the Day’, riddles and ‘punny’ Science jokes! All in all it was a week of investigation, challenge, and fun. Many thanks to the Science Department for organising and facilitating the week’s programme.

CBS Green Schools Day of Action

On Wednesday 12th November the CBS Green School Committee held events to raise awareness of all things sustainable. On the day, all students wore green to highlight awareness, with events taking place including a “Litter” related obstacle course where students competed against each other to reach the bins in the fastest times carrying various waste items!

There was also a competition for who could guess the correct amount of bottles in the re-turn holder in the canteen. In this instance, congratulations must be given to Fionn McLoughlin for winning this competition, which was of the many activities held.

Finally, well done to the students who took part in the litter and leaf pick, an activity in conjunction with Mitchelstown Tidy Towns, where great work was undertaken despite the precarious weather!

All in all the Green Schools Day of Action was a resounding success. Many thanks to the Green Schools Committee and their liaison teacher Mr Parkinson for all their hard work.
