On Thursday the 9th of December CBS Mitchelstowns u16 ½ team took on Scariff in a Munster Semi Final in LIT, coming out victorious on a scoreline of 1-10 to 0-20.
Scariff got off to a good start scoring two unanswered points before CBS finally settled themselves with their first of the game. The first was a cagey affair with CBS remaining in touching distance of Scariff for the most of the first half. Scariff led going in at half time but this game was far from over and both Scariff and CBS were aware of this.
The second half turned out to be a much more positive half in terms of quality of hurling and the performance of CBS with Oisin Ryan (corner forward), Cathal English (midfield) and Charlie English (centre back) really stepping up the task and taking the game by the scruff of the neck as some of the older players in the squad. Although Scariff put up an excellent battle in the second half, points from Cathal English (midfield), Sam Mcgrath (centre forward) and Charlie English (centre back) proved too much for Scariff despite a late goal which gave them some brief hope but it was too little too late. CBS came out victorious on the day.
This u16 ½ team have proven to be something special over the last few weeks with convincing wins over Newcastle West and St Josephs Borrisoleigh and Scariff have now been added to this list, but despite all these convincing wins the game that every school player dreams of winning still awaits as CBS Mitchelstown take on Coachford College, in the long awaited Munster Final Day.
