The anticipation had grown exponentially over the antecedent weeks and by this stage was almost tangible. The anticipation that I speak of is regarding the recent involvement of the Mitchelstown CBS Transition Year class in the perennial and prestigious Young Social Innovators competition in Dublin.
In a hugely enjoyable night for all involved, St. Martin’s National School Kilworth emerged victorious in the primary schools quiz held in Mitchelstown CBS recently. Organised by the Transition Year class, the quiz enjoyed a bumper entry of 47 teams from primary schools throughout the region.
Davis Stanton and Sean Sherlock visited the school on 31st January and 6th February to talk with the Transition Years about the homelessness crisis and their YSI project
Congratulations to the Transition Year students who won the senior award for Best Team Spirit at the North Cork Local Enterprise Christmas Trade Fair at the Green Glens Arena in Millstreet, held on December 16th.
Two CBS Transition Year students went to UCC and CUH for a "Prep for Med" day recently where they could get a look at the medical profession and develop some key skills.
The CBS Transition Years went on their annual survival camp up the Galty Mountains last Tuesday the 10th and Wednesday the 11th. The boys set out under the guidance of Mr. Rea for a tough night of walking, climbing and banter. Great fun was to be had by all.
The Transition years recently had solicitor James Fahy join them for a two day Law program. The aim was to educate them on the world of Law and Order and maybe generate an interest in a career in Law.
